Common fixes

The iPhone or iPad stays on “Searching for your Mac”
  1. Make sure SDeck is running on the Mac — its icon should be in the menu bar. If not, open SDeck from Applications.
  2. Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks and some office networks block devices from seeing each other.
  3. On the iPhone/iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → turn on SDeck.
  4. On the Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → turn on SDeck.
  5. Turn off VPNs on both devices, then tap Reconnect now in SDeck’s Settings.
I don’t see the pairing prompt on my Mac

The prompt appears when the iPhone shows its 6-digit code. Click the SDeck menu bar icon to bring SDeck forward — the prompt may be behind other windows. If you dismissed it, close and reopen SDeck on the iPhone to request a new code.

I can’t find SDeck on my Mac after opening it

SDeck is a menu bar app with no Dock icon. Look for the grid icon at the top right of your screen. Click it and choose Open Layout Editor… or Welcome & Setup…. If your menu bar is crowded, the icon may be hidden behind the notch — quit a few menu bar apps or use a menu bar manager.

Hotkey buttons do nothing

Hotkeys need Accessibility permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, turn on SDeck, then quit and reopen SDeck from the menu bar.

A script button shows an error

Open the Layout Editor → Scripts… and run the script there to see the message. If an AppleScript controls another app, allow SDeck in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.

How do I edit or add buttons?

All editing happens on the Mac: menu bar icon → Open Layout Editor…. Tapping the pencil or an empty slot on your iPhone opens the editor on the Mac for you. See the setup guide.

How do I remove a paired device?

Paired devices are remembered by name on the Mac. To reset pairing, quit SDeck on the Mac, run defaults delete com.sdeck.SDeckMac ApprovedPeerNames in Terminal, and reopen SDeck. Each device will show a new code.

How do I update the Mac app?

Download the latest version from the download section and replace SDeck in Applications. Your deck, scripts, and paired devices are kept.

How do I uninstall?

On iPhone/iPad, delete the app as usual. On the Mac, quit SDeck from its menu, move it from Applications to the Trash, and optionally delete ~/Library/Application Support/SDeck.
